What is an access key
An access key is basically a keyboard 'shortcut' that lets you skip straight to a particular part of a web site or web page. Access keys make web sites more usable for people who prefer to navigate using the keyboard, people using a screen reader or text browser, or people who are unable to use a mouse.Access keys on Aged Care Australia
Aged Care Australia provides two sets of access keys: access keys that let you move around a particular page, and access keys that let you jump straight to important pages on the site.The access keys that let you move around on a particular page on Aged Care Australia are:
- S - Skip to the main content of a page
- T - Jump to the top-level navigation - help with health, where to start, etc
- P - Jump to the second-level navigation - specific topics in the selected top-level area
- F - Jump to the footer navigation of a page

Using access keys
The method for using access keys depends on the type of computer you have and the web browser software you use. In general the following combination of keys is used:- On a PC using internet explorer - 'Alt' + <access key>, then 'Enter'
- On a PC using mozilla firefox/netscape - 'Alt' + <access key>
- On an Apple computer - 'Control' + <access key>
