Information in other languages

The Australian Government understands that if your native language is not English you may need help using the site. Some content on this site is available in multiple languages. Pages that are available in multiple languages will let you know.

If you can't find the information you are looking for in your language, the following services may be able to help you.

Telephone Interpreters

The Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) is run by the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs. TIS helps people who do not speak English communicate with the Australian Government.

TIS is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is accessible from anywhere in Australia for the cost of a local call on 131 450. TIS can access 120 different languages and dialects.

National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters

The National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) is a national body that sets standards for, and accredits, translators and interpreters. NAATI is jointly owned by the Australian Government, state governments and territory governments.

The NAATI Hotline can be contacted on 1300 557 470 within Australia or you can search their directory of practitioners online through their Practitioner's Directory.

Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators Incorporated
